Something new for 2026: teacher retreats!

I think there's a real need for in-person connection right now.

I remember when the internet felt like an escape from real life. These days, it feels like a lot of us are looking for the opposite... we need real life as an escape from what we experience through these ever-present screens.

After two decades of creating digital resources and offering professional development workshops, I want to offer something new. (Not instead of what I'm currently doing with the website, podcast, books, courses, and PD, but in addition to those things.)

So in 2026, I'm hosting regular retreats. My goal is to make evidence-based mindfulness, meditation, and nature-immersion practices accessible to people of all backgrounds and belief systems.

Some of my retreats will be teacher-centered, and some will be open to everyone, like the February retreat for folks who love reading.

Join me for a teacher retreat

Step away from your to-do list and gift yourself a weekend of deep rest and renewal. I’ll guide you through forest therapy, sound baths, restorative yoga, and more. Retreats are held throughout the year in restful locations. In each one, you’ll find comfortable lodging, delicious meals, and plenty of time to unwind and connect with other folks who truly get it.

Most of my retreats are being held at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA. It's a beautiful 400-acre forested campus in the Pocono Mountains, about two hours from both NYC and Philadelphia.

Here are the currently schedule retreats. Each is located in Honesdale, PA, unless otherwise indicated:

  • February 20-22: Books in the Wild: A Winter Sensory Retreat for Readers [open to everyone]
  • June 12-14: Exhale and Renew: An Early Summer Retreat for Educators
  • July 24-26, Old Fort, NC: Awakened: Transform Your Teaching Through Mindful Practices
  • September 11-13: Fewer Things, Better: An Autumn Retreat for Teacher Renewal
  • October 23-25: Rooted in Presence: An Autumn Sensory Retreat [open to everyone]
  • TBD March 2027, Sedona, AZ: Oasis: A Desert Retreat for Educators on Restorative Practices

As part of this shift toward in-person restorative events, I'm also looking to provide retreats for individual schools that want to offer experiences beyond typical professional development.

Many leaders are ready to take their faculty out of the gymnasium or conference center and into a relaxed, nature-based setting designed for small, intentional gatherings. So, I'm offering planning + facilitation services for schools, districts, teachers unions, and non-profit organizations who want to hold private retreats.

As a teacher, I had to be at work at 7:30 a.m. The kids arrived at 7:45 a.m. And if you're like me, you are not realllllllly at your best first thing after waking. Compound that issue with the switch to daylight savings in spring, and you're suddenly going to work in the dark again? No thank you. I would set my alarm for the latest possible second, and then rush around trying to make sure I wasn’t late. Any unexpected interruption or disruption became a big problem. Because I left myself no...

In November, I launched what's probably the most innovative and powerful resource I've ever attempted to create. It was also the most personal thing I've ever created, because I built it for people like me. Motivation Lab is a coaching app designed around neuroscience and powered by AI, to help you stop fighting against your brain and work with your natural tendencies for getting stuff done. To my delight, over the past few months, hundreds of people have been trying the app out, and the...

The biggest concern I hear from teachers about AI is around ethics, especially environmental impact. So many teachers feel conflicted about artificial intelligence. They're using it, but they've also feel like it's terrible for the environment, trained on stolen content, taking away jobs, and rotting our brains. And then there's the practical reality: it's 2026, and AI is literally embedded in everything online now. Instagram search. Email filters. Even online bill pay. So ... what are doing...
